The struggles of Justin Upton are well-tread ground. The 33 percent strikeout rate and decline of all offensive metrics was alarming. But Monday he provided the Tigers a huge lift.
It's great to see emotion from Upton rounding first base after the walk-off. A player who has been stoic through his ups and downs needed that kind of a release. I don't know if this is a spark or an outlier but with J.D. Martinez out for at least a month, the team desperately needs Upton to produce. Let's hope this is the start of the turn around.
