Norfolk Tides 3, Toledo Mud Hens 0 (box)
Tides starter Ariel Miranda limited the Mud Hens to three hits and three walks in six shutout innings, and the Norfolk bullpen combined for seven strikeouts in three innings. The Mud Hens offense managed just five hits and only advanced one runner to third base in the game. This left Matt Boyd out to dry, but the young lefthander didn’t help his cause with four walks and three runs allowed in five innings.

Reading Fightin’ Phils 7, Erie SeaWolves 2 (box)
Erie out-hit the Phils 12-11, but left 10 runners on base in a blowout loss against Reading. The Fightin’ Phils were up 7-0 heading into the ninth inning, but Grayson Greiner and Wynton Bernard were able to drive in runs to avoid the shutout. Starter Myles Jaye was not as sharp as in recent outings, allowing four runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings. Bernard led the SeaWolves with three hits, and Dominic Ficociello added a pair of doubles.

The Flying Tigers scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth to re-take the lead in a back-and-forth game, but Gerson Moreno was tagged with four earned runs in the top of the ninth and cost Lakeland the chance at a win. The blown save was Moreno’s first since arriving in Lakeland; he had not allowed a run at any level since May 28 in the Midwest League. Offensively, the Flying Tigers were led by four home runs from four different players, including shots from Joey Pankake and Ross Kivett in the eighth inning.

Reliever Jordan Smith took the loss after allowing three runs in the top of the seventh inning.

The Tigers scored two runs on a pair of hits in the bottom of the sixth inning, but were silent the rest of the night in their third consecutive loss. Tanner Donnels had three of Connecticut’s six hits, but did not score and only drove in one run. Designated hitter Victor Padron drew three walks. Starter Alfred Gutierrez took the loss after allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. New draftee Mark Ecker worked a scoreless inning in his professional debut.
