Columbus Clippers 5, Toledo Mud Hens 4 (F/10) (box)
The Mud Hens fell into an early 4-0 hole, but scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game. However, they were not able to pull out the win against Columbus. Ronny Rodriguez of the Clippers scored on a wild pitch by Toledo’s Bobby Parnell in the top of the 10th inning to give them a 5-4 lead, and Toru Murata shut the door for his fifth win of the season. Buck Farmer had a solid start for Toledo, shaking off some early struggles to strike out 10 in seven innings. Chad Huffman had two of Toledo’s six hits, and drove in a run.

Akron RubberDucks 2, Erie SeaWolves 0 (box)
Artie Lewicki limited the RubberDucks to one unearned run on four hits in five innings, but took his second loss of the season. The SeaWolves offense was largely to blame, as they tallied just four hits, all singles, on the game. Anthony Gose singled and walked in his SeaWolves debut, and left fielder Jason Krizan added a hit and walk of his own. Akron starter Michael Peoples picked up the win after holding Erie to just three hits in seven shutout innings.

Kane County Cougars 8, West Michigan Whitecaps 2 (box)
The Whitecaps took an early 2-0 lead and were tied 2-2 when starter Beau Burrows exited after five innings. West Michigan’s bullpen struggled in a big way, allowing six runs (five earned) over the next three innings. Logan Longwith took the loss, his first of the season, after allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and a walk. Arvicent Perez and Jose Zambrano drove in the Whitecaps’ runs in the top of the second. Rashad Brown reached base three times.

Tri-City ValleyCats 10, Connecticut Tigers 2 (box)
The ValleyCats scored three runs in the first inning off Tigers starter Locke St. John, then added six more runs in the middle innings before Connecticut finally got on the board in the top of the eighth. St. John gave up five runs on seven hits and four walks in 4 2/3 innings, resulting in his third loss of the season. The Tigers managed nine hits in the game, but went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position in the loss.
