Pawtucket Red Sox 4, Toledo Mud Hens 2 (box)

The Mud Hens out-hit the Red Sox 11-9, but a three-run homer from Pawtucket’s Christian Vasquez gave them enough offense to even the series. Toledo starter Cory Riordan allowed four runs on eight hits in six innings and suffered his first loss since moving up to Triple-A. The Mud Hens offense managed 10 hits against Pawtucket starter Justin Haley, but grounded into four double plays and stranded six runners on base. Turley pitched into the eighth inning, but allowed five runs (four earned) on 11 hits. The SeaWolves offense had seven hits of their own, including three extra base hits, but went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Stewart also recorded a single and stole a base, his third of the season. A.J. Simcox added two hits and scored two runs, and Zac Shepherd reached base three times. Starter Jeff Thompson scattered five hits over seven shutout innings to earn the win.

Starter Alfred Gutierrez allowed two runs in four innings, but suffered his third loss of the season thanks to a sluggish Tigers offense.
