Beer of the Series 4.29: Toronto Blue Jays

The Tigers beat the Indians! Celebrate like it's 1984! This will...hopefully happen six more times!!!!

Honestly, watching that game seemed like taking out 11 games worth of frustration at once. It was a fantastic juxtaposition of seeing how every other game between the two teams was not like anything in the game yesterday. The Tigers got a couple breaks, obliterated the baseball, and got production from their bullpen. It was a good day for a drink.

NOTE: Canadian beer is not stronger than American beer! I've written about this before, but it bears repeating: American beer used to use ABW instead of ABV measures, and since alcohol (ethanol) is about 80% of the weight of water, the figures are skewed by about 20% (4% ABW is about 5% ABV, 6% is about 7.5%, etc). However, most Americans in the 70s and 80s used this info as a placebo effect to slam cans of Moosehead and Molson and get, like, totally trashed!

That being said, Canadian beer is still tasty stuff, especially the beer for this series: the Engineer's IPA by Junction Craft Brewing. While this is a different kind of engineer than what I am, I am extremely partial to the label (because Boilermakers).

The beer doesn't disappoint, either. This is a bright, flavorful, hoppy beer with four kinds of American hops and a hazy orange pour that is a harbinger of some great citrus flavors, too. It pairs well with anything from tacos to seafood, and at 6.2% ABV and 59 IBUs, it's a beer you can have a couple of each night of the series.

Junction Craft Brewing is located in Toronto, Canuckistan.
