FanPost Friday: What makes you a Tigers fan?

This has been a tough season, so let’s remember why we’re fans

MLB: Winter Meetings Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

This week’s FanPost Friday prompt is: Why are you a Detroit Tigers fan?

This past season was tough for all of us, many key players have been traded since Opening Day. This week saw the trade of Ian Kinsler to the Los Angeles Angels. After that, we could all use a reminder of what makes us fans.

You might be a brand new fan, just learning about the game within the last year or two. Was 2006 your rookie season, when the Tigers went to the World Series for the first time in 22 years? Maybe you go back to the 1990s, when Cecil Fielder manned first base. Maybe you became a fan when Sparky Anderson led the team to a World Series championship in 1984. Perhaps Mark “The Bird” Fidrych is the reason for your fandom. Or maybe it goes back even further than that, to Al Kaline, or even earlier.

Regardless of how long you’ve been a fan, or how you initially became a fan, we want to hear about it. Share your story!
