MLB Opening Day: BYB staff predictions for the 2017 season

Every year, we, the Bless You Boys staff, publishes our predictions for the upcoming MLB season. Every year, we are horribly wrong. Sure, it takes some guts to say that the Minnesota Twins will win the AL Central — they were coming off a second place finish in 2015, remember — but it provides plenty of fodder for our critics when we are wrong.

Of course, things can also go right. Last year, seven staff members correctly predicted that the Chicago Cubs would win the World Series, while four staff members nailed Justin Verlander as the rightful 2016 American League Cy Young Award winner (yes, we’re still bitter). Two staff members picked the Cleveland Indians as division winners, and community editor Fielder’s Choice even correctly predicted Kris Bryant’s rise from NL Rookie of the Year winner in 2015 to Most Valuable Player in 2016! Most people also nailed Michael Fulmer as the Detroit Tigers’ rookie of the year, though that one seemed fairly obvious at the time.
