Charlotte closer Brad Goldberg shut the door in the bottom of the inning to seal the win. The loss was a tough one for Toledo as Warwick Saupold threw his second scoreless outing of the season, including seven strikeouts in six innings. Jason Krizan drove in Toledo’s lone run of the game.

Lakeland took the lead for good after a five-run third inning, but it was a late push from the Flying Tigers offense that ultimately delivered a comfortable win. Arvicent Perez led the way with three hits and three RBI, while Joey Pankake homered and doubled to drive in two runs. Zac Shepherd also homered, and eight of nine Lakeland starters reached base. West Michigan Whitecaps 12, Fort Wayne TinCaps 3 (box)
Kyle Funkhouser was brilliant, striking out nine hitters in six shutout innings for the Whitecaps.
