It’s finally here. Opening Day, 2017.
The Tigers’ first lineup of the regular season was announced on Sunday and confirmed on Monday when the team tweeted out the first official lineup card. Right-handed starter Justin Verlander will get the start against the White Sox and Jose Quintana
J.D. Martinez is noticeably absent from the lineup as he recovers from a Lisfranc sprain, but that was to be expected. James McCann, who left an exhibition game on April 1 with a left hand bruise, was briefly questionable for Opening Day, but his inclusion in the lineup alleviated any doubts.
With this lineup comes the threat of rain (that has since begun) and a tentative start time of 4:10 p.m. ET. That off day on Tuesday is looming, but chances that the teams play through it and deal with a delay(s) aren’t ruled out, either.
