The excitement of JaCoby Jones’ three-run bomb had barely worn off when Nick “Call me Nicholas” Castellanos came to the plate for his second at-bat of the Opening Day game. With his jaunty kerchief replacing the ubiquitous unbuttoned jersey look he sported all spring, Castellanos swung on a 3-2 count. He made hard contact off Chicago White Sox starter Jose Quintana and blasted the ball over the right field wall, into the Tigers bullpen.
The Tigers boosted their early lead to 5-1.
