Tigers prospect Christin Stewart hits 12th home run in Erie SeaWolves loss

Indianapolis Indians 6, Toledo Mud Hens 1 (F/7) (box)

Mud Hens starter Anthony Vasquez was tagged for three runs in the first inning, and three more in the fourth before departing after five frames. He struck out three and walked one, taking his first loss as a Mud Hen. Omar Infante led the Hens offense with a pair of hits and a run scored. Brendan Ryan had their lone RBI.

Indianapolis Indians 7, Toledo Mud Hens 1 (F/7) (box)

Daniel Stumpf allowed a pair of runs on three hits and the Mud Hens dropped the second half of their doubleheader on Friday night. Victor Alcantara started for Toledo and allowed an unearned run in two innings, while Bruce Rondon threw a scoreless inning later in the game. Efren Navarro’s solo home run was one of just two hits for Toledo.

Altoona Curve 11, Erie SeaWolves 10 (box)

The two teams combined for 12 runs in the first inning, knocking starters Tyler Alexander and Alex McRae out of the game after just three combined outs. Altoona tied the score in the third inning, then scored four runs in the sixth to take the lead. Christin Stewart hit a grand slam in the first inning, his 12th home run of the season. Kody Eaves added a three-run homer.

West Michigan Whitecaps 4, Lake County Captains 0 (box)

Austin Sodders and the Whitecaps bullpen held the Captains to just two hits in an easy shutout victory. Sodders worked six innings while striking out six and walking one for his fifth win of the season. Offensively, the Whitecaps collected six doubles as they built an early lead. Jacob Robson drove in a pair of runs for West Michigan, while Josh Lester led the team with three hits.

Sodders (W): 6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, BB, 6 SO

The Lakeland Flying Tigers were up 3-0 in the third inning of their game against the Clearwater Threshers, but the game was suspended due to rain. The game will resume on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. ET. Sandy Baez (0-3, 10.97 ERA) will start the regularly scheduled matchup against Clearwater’s Edgar Garcia (1-0, 4.32 ERA).
