Anthony Goes Hysteria
Anthony Gose has pitched one inning in the minor leagues and has already overtaken Joe Jimenez as the team’s bullpen savior. Glowing remarks from the GM and touching 99 on the radar gun will do that.
But this overlooks that he basically went AWOL last year and has been so bad that he required a position change. The team sure could use his 2015 production in center field right now.
And as Ashley points out, everyone needs to exercise extreme caution with this whole experiment. It was one outing in High A and his ERA now sits at 9. Let’s see some serious outings before we begin to pass judgement. That being said, the breaking ball looks pretty legit.
Sunk costs
Jordan Zimmermann looked better last night, but he is still rocketing toward being one of the worst $100 million contracts for a pitcher ever. But hey, Warwick Saupold is back, so everything is going to be just fine.
Miggy’s man car
In yesterday’s most important news, Miguel Cabrera will be featured on Discovery Channel’s “Diesel Brothers” in a two part series that will also feature Pedro Martinez and former Tiger Carlos Pena. Miggy has a special fondness for all things cars:
The proceeds will go to Cabrera’s foundation because he continues to be an awesome human being.
Wish the 2004 Tigers would have had this promotion
The San Diego Padres, owners of the worst record in the majors, have a new promotion to try and get their fans to the park. For $99 you will get to see five wins in June, no matter how many games that takes.
The promotion gives you tickets to the first five games in June and then additional tickets after each loss until the team collects five wins. It also provides upgrade vouchers. No word on why people would actually want to watch this many Padres games.

Everyone is impressed with Alex Avila. How rare are these Major League Baseball feats? And how about Josh Hamilton still holding one? Ken Rosenthal says that Jon Farrell might coach the whole season ... or he might be fired next week. I had no idea the seat was that hot. Korean baseball fight! And a friendly reminder that Shohei Otani still exists, and he is the truth.
