This morning the Tigers announced that today's game against the Cleveland Indians has been canceled due to biblical quantities of rain. The game would have been the last of a four-game series, but since the Tigers won the first two, they'll have to settle for winning the series 2-1. Hurray!
A day without baseball is never fun, but the timing isn't the worst thing in the world. The extra rest may benefit the Tigers as they kick off a 10-day west coast trip in Oakland tomorrow, and we all know that the Tigers can struggle on the west coast. On top of that, with Ian Kinsler experiencing hamstring tightness on Wednesday night and J.D. Martinez still on the disabled list, the Tigers are likely to be healthier for the makeup game against the rival Indians, whenever that may be.
The Tigers have announced that they'll be pushing Michael Fulmer's start back to Friday night, with Jordan Zimmermann and Daniel Norris also pitching against the A's this weekend.
