Tigers prospect Grayson Greiner drives in 2 runs in SeaWolves win

Erie SeaWolves 4, Trenton Thunder 3 (box)

After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the second, the SeaWolves rallied to tie the score in the bottom of the inning. They added two more runs in the third inning and made the slim lead stand up for their 12th win of the season. Starter Anthony Vasquez nearly went the distance, working 8 13 innings while allowing three runs. Grayson Greiner drove in two of Erie’s four runs and had a pair of doubles on the day.

Greiner: 2-4, 2 2B, R, 2 RBI, 2 SO

Vasquez (W): 8.1 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO

Coming up next: Myles Jaye (0-2, 3.32 ERA) is still hunting for his first win of the season. He will start the first game of a doubleheader against the Thunder on Friday. A.J. Achter (0-0, 3.77 ERA) will start Game 2.

Charlotte Stone Crabs 5, Lakeland Flying Tigers 3 (box)

The Stone Crabs got to Lakeland starter Spencer Turnbull early, scoring all five of their runs in the first two innings. Turnbull bounced back to work five innings, but he only struck out three hitters to two walks. The Lakeland offense tried to rally in the later innings, but they left eight runners on base in the loss. They struck out 12 times against Charlotte pitching, including a Golden Sombrero from third baseman Zac Shepherd.

Coming up next: Kyle Dowdy (2-1, 2.19 ERA) will start for Lakeland on Friday as they kick off a road series against the Palm Beach Cardinals.

West Michigan Whitecaps 9, Clinton LumberKings 3 (box)

The LumberKings held a 2-0 lead for most of this game, but West Michigan broke things open with an eight-run sixth inning. Jacob Robson led the Whitecaps with four hits and a pair of RBI, while three others doubled. Anthony Pereira added a pair of RBI and stole two bases. Locke St. John picked up the win after tossing four solid innings in relief. Starter Alfred Gutierrez struck out six in four innings of work.

The Toledo Mud Hens were rained out on Thursday. They will make up their game against the Indianapolis Indians in a doubleheader on May 19. Buck Farmer (0-1, 2.51 ERA) will start for the Hens on Friday as they begin a three-game home set against the Louisville Bats.
