Toledo Mud Hens 5, Durham Bulls 2 (box)
The Mud Hens scored four runs in the sixth inning to take a 5-1 lead and snap a four-game losing streak on Saturday evening. Matt den Dekker doubled twice and drove in a run for Toledo, while Tyler Collins chipped in two more hits and an RBI. Matt Boyd had a strong start, holding the Bulls to two runs on five hits in 6 2⁄3 innings. He struck out eight, giving him 19 strikeouts in 19 innings since rejoining Toledo. Edward Mujica threw a scoreless ninth for his fourth save of the year.

Tyler Alexander coughed up two runs on five hits in four innings, but his offense could not pick him up. The SeaWolves managed just three hits against Trenton pitching, with Dominic Ficociello’s solo home run providing their only scoring. Kurt Spomer tossed two scoreless innings in relief.

Erie SeaWolves 3, Trenton Thunder 2 (F/8) (box)
SeaWolves reliever Sean Donatello gave up two runs in the bottom of the sixth to open the scoring, but Mike Gerber evened the score with a two-run homer in the top of the seventh. After a scoreless inning from reliever Jairo Labourt, shortstop A.J. Simcox singled, stole second, and scored to give the SeaWolves a 3-2 lead. Labourt shut the door in the bottom of the eighth for the win, giving Erie a doubleheader split with Trenton.

Coming up next: Beau Burrows will make his third start for the SeaWolves on Sunday against Trenton. Erie and Trenton will play another doubleheader, but Erie’s second starter has not been announced.
The Lakeland Flying Tigers were off on Saturday, as they are in the middle of the Florida State League All-Star break. They will be back in action on Monday. Also playing on Monday will be the Connecticut Tigers. Detroit Tigers top prospect Matt Manning will start for them on Opening Day.
The West Michigan Whitecaps were rained out on Saturday. The playoff-bound Whitecaps will be back in action on Sunday against Lansing before taking a few days off for the Midwest League All-Star break.
