The Detroit Tigers lost another game on Wednesday. They have done that plenty of times this season, and this one wasn’t all that different from the rest. Daniel Norris struggled, allowing five runs on eight hits. The offense managed seven hits, but only had four at-bats with runners in scoring position. Their two runs came off solo home runs from Alex Avila and Miguel Cabrera.
It’s games like these that have put the Tigers in this predicament. Avila, a dark horse All-Star contender with his numbers in most years, is instead on the trading block. Ditto Justin Verlander, who could be gone in two weeks.
ROARS:
Miguel Cabrera: Two more hits for Miguel, who seems to be rounding into form.
Mikie Mahtook: Sure, he went 0-for-3, but he’s now the people’s champion.
Warwick Saupold: Lasted longer than the starter, which is usually a bad sign. Saupold pitched well, though.
HISSES:
Daniel Norris: Pitching line NSFW
STATS AND INFO:
The Tigers need to go 52-33 in their final 85 games if they want to match last season’s win total.
