Dawel Lugo is off to a hot start in the Detroit Tigers organization. The young third baseman, recently acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks in the trade for J.D. Martinez, was just named to MLB Pipeline’s Prospect Team of the Week. He finished the week with four hits, three runs and three walks in 13 at-bats, including two home runs and four RBI on Sunday. He didn’t strikeout once during that 13 at-bat stretch.

Overall this season, Lugo has a .771 OPS in 354 at-bats. He has 100 hits, including 21 doubles and nine home runs. He has driven in 47 runs and scored 43 times. He has also drawn 24 walks while striking out 51 times. Lugo is off to a great season in the minors this year. Judging by his performance since the Tigers acquired him, he’s happy to be here. Tigers fans will take more convincing, though.
