The trade deadline has passed, and we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief. Justin Verlander, Ian Kinsler, and Jose Iglesias are all still sporting Tigers uniforms. Michael Fulmer was not thrown in for a deal to help relieve payroll from a bigger contract. Bigger bonus: you no longer need to read 900 trade rumors every day. Phew!
At the end of the madness that is deadline season, the Tigers had made all the moves we thought they would. J.D. Martinez was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in return for infielder Dawel Lugo, Sergio Alcantara, and Jose King. Justin Wilson and Alex Avila were traded to the Chicago Cubs for, uh, more infielders. They brought back prospects Jeimer Candelario and Isaac Paredes, plus a player to be named later.
The Tigers have certainly bolstered their farm system for infielder prospects, but some people felt the team could have gotten more bang for their buck, with either better prospect return or more cut payroll.
Tell us what you think of the deadline deals the Tigers pulled off.
