After battling heart issues earlier in the season, it would appear Victor Martinez has to deal with them again. On Saturday, the Detroit Tigers placed him on the 10-day disabled list after he was hospitalized for an irregular heartbeat. It’s a serious condition, and one everyone hopes he can get figured out. Also, with a health issue like this, you have to wonder how much more baseball V-Mart is going to play.

Norris continues to struggle

Daniel Norris had another not-so-great rehab start in Toledo on Saturday, which puts him at five starts on this current assignment with an ERA of 10.50. To his credit he knows what he’s doing wrong: his command sucks. It looks like he will have at least one more rehab start which means we’ll probably see another Buck Farmer start in the not-too-distant future.

Joe Jimenez will keep getting chances

After coming in and giving up the winning run in Saturday night’s contest, there is no indication that pitcher Joe Jimenez is going to stop seeing opportunities any time soon. Why should he? It’s a lost season. We’re at a point where he is probably not going to get any better pitching in the minors. Plus, their season is almost over. It might be painful to watch, but continuing to throw him out there is the probably the best thing for him.

This is what perfection looks like

Barry Bonds and Ted Willams are two guys who you can comfortably say were truly great hitters. Look at their swings side-by-side and you might learn a little bit about why that is.

For your free time

Milwaukee Brewers minor leaguer gets hit by pitch and suffers a cardiac event. Teams are competing for players at a younger age than ever. Joe Klein was an interesting guy. Baseball Prospectus talks about the trend of positional anarchy. Why reporters are leaving the sports writing world.

Baseball is awesome

Rhys Hoskins, young Philly phenom, hits his 11th home run in just 13 games.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
