The Detroit Tigers are not having a good Labor Day weekend so far. They lost the fourth and final game of the series against the Cleveland Indians by a score of 11-1, Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park.

By now we’re all just happy that the Indians are leaving town after sweeping the series. Too bad the Tigers play them again next week :( .

Quick hits:

  • Chad Bell started for Detroit. He got through four innings but couldn’t record an out in the fifth. He loaded the bases before being pulled for Zach Reininger.
  • Bell’s final line was four-plus innings, eight hits, five runs, two walks and one strikeout on 85 pitches (50 strikes).
  • The Tigers scored their only run in the second inning, thanks to consecutive singles from Jeimer Candelario, James McCann, and Jose Iglesias.
  • Cleveland scored in every inning but the fourth and seventh.
  • Daniel Norris made his first MLB appearance since July 16. Norris surrendered two extra-base hits and two walks without recording an out.
  • Cleveland has now won 11 games in a row.
  • The Indians players keep making “figurines” — for lack of a better word — using baseballs and Gatorade cups in the dugout. Here are some examples:

I’ll just say that Cleveland seems like a fun team.
