There’s nothing quite like the first sounds of baseball in spring training. After a long winter without the game we love, the slap of a ball in a glove, or the crack of a hit launching over the outfield wall are the music to light up our souls.
So there’s nothing baseball fans look forward to more than the first games of they can listen to or watch. In 2018 there will be 20 games broadcast on the radio — either 97.1 FM or 1270 AM — and seven games will be broadcast on TV via Fox Sports Detroit.
The first radio broadcast is on February 23 for the Tigers first regular game of spring training against the New York Yankees. The first television broadcast will be on March 11 for a game against the Atlanta Braves at home in Lakeland.
Update: Fox Sports Detroit will air the YES broadcast of Detroit’s matchup against the New York Yankees on February 23. It will also air on delay on MLB Network at 8 p.m. Eastern.
There is one evening game on the schedule, also against the Braves, on March 21. This will be a TV-only broadcast.
