Alex Verdugo is a must get for this rebuild

Rumors are abound in Los Angeles right now, one of which says the Dodgers are dangling Verdugo to the Indians in exchange for Kluber. They are also strangely rumored to Castellanos and Harper at the same, which doesn't seem to add up to me. The rumor mill is being run by jive turkeys it seems.

But this leads me to look deeper in to Verdugo and what he offers as a player. He seems to have been the slightly red-headed stepchild of top outfield prospects the last couple years, always considered near the top but always overshadowed by several other top outfield prospects. In fact he has slipped to the 32nd best prospect in baseball and I'm baffled as to why that would be. He seems to have all the tools, many of them plus tools. He is 22 years old and just played 37 games for the Dodgers last year. AND HE IS AVAILABLE!!!!

This is the type of player the Tigers are lacking in their rebuild and he is a must get (as well as a must keep away from the Indians). If there is a player that I would go all-in on right now (that is available) it is Verdugo.

So what would it take to get him? The Dodgers are clearly shopping for a right fielder and a starting pitcher, as well as a right-handed impact bat. I'm not pretending to know what the market value on Michael Fulmer is right now, except I know it has shrunk a bit. I also don't know how serious the Castellanos rumors are. Part of me also wants to hold on to Fulmer as he could be a key piece of a turnaround. But at this point I would offer Fulmer and Castellanos for a package that is headlined by Verdugo. I'm not going to pretend to know what other prospects would make up a fair package, but I would think we could at least get one more of the other top 7 or 8 prospects and I don't much care which one it is either. Verdugo is sitting there like a pair of Aces before the flop and I say we just say screw it and go all-in.
