The Tigers and Pirates were originally slated to kick off the season this afternoon in Detroit, but Mother Nature has thrown a wrench into those plans. About four hours before first pitch, the game was postponed due to the impending nasty weather. Jordan Zimmermann and Ivan Nova will face off on Friday instead, on a conveniently scheduled (finally!) off day.
Even though this season won’t offer as much winning baseball as Tigers fans are used to, we were still excited for Opening Day. It’s an annual holiday! We’ve all spent the last six months suffering through winter and waiting for this day, and now we have to wait a bit longer. So it’s kind of a downer.
But look on the bright side:
- Now we don’t have that awful off day after Game 1. We’re just jumping straight into a regular schedule.
- At least they called the game early instead of letting both teams burn their starting pitcher only to postpone it after a few innings.
Anyway, we were all jacked up for Opening Day and now we don’t get one. Yet. So feel free to let out all your pent up energy and baseball thoughts in this thread instead. There are still a bunch of other games going on, with lots of ace pitchers facing off against each other.
We’ll try again tomorrow.
