Jordan Zimmermann left his start against the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday after taking a sharp line drive off his head. Zimmermann stayed down on the field for a couple of minutes while being evaluated, but walked off under his own power. Zimmermann is currently being evaluated for further injuries by the Tigers training staff.
The liner, which came off the bat of Jason Kipnis, was traveling at 106.5 miles per hour according to Statcast. The ball caromed directly to Miguel Cabrera at first base, who stepped on the bag to retire Kipnis. Daniel Norris came on in relief for Zimmermann, and retired the final out to end the inning.
