Detroit Tigers prospect Daz Cameron might not even be the best center fielder on his own team — Derek Hill might already be one of the best defenders in the entire minors — but that doesn’t mean Cameron can’t go out and get it in the outfield. He showed off his speed and range on Friday with an amazing diving catch in right-center field at Publix Field.

Cameron ranked seventh on our 2018 Tigers prospect list and ninth on MLB Pipeline’s rankings. MLB Pipeline graded his glove as a plus tool, and it’s easy to see why. His good natural instincts and above-average speed look like they should keep him in center field as he progresses up the minor league ladder.
Cameron’s catch helped preserve a scoreless outing for righthander Anthony Castro, who worked seven scoreless innings in Lakeland’s victory. If you want to read more about Lakeland and the other Tigers’ affiliates, make sure to check out our daily minor league recaps.
