Daniel Norris and Miguel Cabrera exit Sunday’s game with injuries

Norris’ ongoing groin issues continue to be a concern.

MLB: Detroit Tigers at Baltimore Orioles Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

During Sunday afternoon’s game against the Baltimore Orioles, the Detroit Tigers were dealt a double dose of bad news. First pitcher Daniel Norris — finally free of the bullpen and taking on starter duties — was pulled in the third inning due to left groin tightness.

For anyone who has been following the roller coaster ride of Norris’s history with injury, the words “groin tightness” are very unwelcome ones, as this is a particular injury he has dealt with in the past. While there is no word at this time how serious the injury is at the moment, expect to see Norris miss at least a couple of games.

If a repeat injury of Norris wasn’t bad enough, Miguel Cabrera was pulled from the game a couple innings later. He has been diagnosed with left biceps spasms. Like with Norris, there are no updates at this time regarding the severity of the injury.

We will update the story as we learn more. For now, it goes without saying the team hopes neither injury is serious, as it would be an unwelcome blow this early in the season to lose two key members of the team.
