Miguel Cabrera leaves game with left hip flexor tightness

He might be grateful to get out of the game before Chicago turned into Hoth

The Tigers may have their first real injury of the season. After rounding first base, clearly intent to hustle for a double, Miguel Cabrera second guessed himself and stumbled over the bag, hitting the dirt hard, and looking hurt when he got back to his feet.

Though Cabrera soldiered on and stayed in the game another inning, he was soon replaced at first by Niko Goodrum, and the team announced Cabrera was experiencing left hip flexor tightness. Goodrum shortly thereafter got the first Tigers stolen base of the season (and the first of his major league career).

Not long after Cabrera left, flurries began in earnest in Chicago, turning Guaranteed Rate Stadium into a veritable snow globe.

No word yet on the severity of Cabrera’s injury or if he will make a DL stint as a result.
