Tigers prospect Christin Stewart crushes a pair of jacks as his reign of terror continues

Toledo Mud Hens 10, Louisville Bats 4 (box)

The Mud Hens opened a big ol’ can of whoop-ass on the Bats in this one. They launched six home runs, including a pair by Christin Stewart, the International League’s hottest hitter. Ronny Rodriguez also cracked two long balls out of the leadoff spot. The Bats made a game of it until the Hens erupted again for a five-run sixth inning to put them away for good. Drew VerHagen and Artie Lewicki combined to strikeout 10 Bats, and each allowed a pair of runs.

Rodriguez: 2-5, 2 HR, 2 R, 2 RBI

Coming up next: The Mud Hens are off Monday. They will get back at it Tuesday, as Josh Turley (2-1, 3.86 ERA) will take on Dylan Covey (3-1, 2.76 ERA) and the Charlotte Knights as the Mud Hens take their International League leading 23-12 record on the road.

Erie SeaWolves 2, Akron RubberDucks 0 (box)

Spencer Turnbull gave the SeaWolves his best outing of the year, and the bullpen did the rest on Sunday. Turnbull tossed five scoreless, allowing just three hits while striking out six. Gerson Moreno, Kurt Spomer, and Kyle Dowdy combined for four shutout innings in relief. Jake Robson had a pair of hits and an RBI, while Danny Woodrow and Herlis Rodriguez each scored a run in this one.

Robson: 2-3, RBI, BB
Turnbull (W): 5.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO

Coming up next: The SeaWolves head to Binghamton to take on the Rumble Ponies. Kyle Funkhouser (0-3, 5.46 ERA) gets the call with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. ET on Monday.

Lakeland Flying Tigers: off day

The Flygers had Mother’s Day off, and will get back under way on Monday. Anthony Castro (2-2, 3.58 ERA) will take on Willy Ortiz (3-0, 2.53 ERA) and the Charlotte Stone Crabs as a four-game road set begins.

West Michigan Whitecaps: off day

The Whitecaps had Sunday off as well. They will get back at it on Monday as Garett King (0-1, 3.86 ERA) takes on Padres top prospect MacKenzie Gore (0-1, 10.80 ERA) and the Fort Wayne TinCaps.
