Win or lose, the Detroit Tigers put together a surprising effort against Cleveland’s Carlos Carrasco on Monday. They scored three runs off “Cookie” in 6 2⁄3 innings, and lead 3-1 in the eighth. It marks their best performance against the 31-year-old righthander since June of 2015.
The big blow against Carrasco came off the bat of utility man Niko Goodrum, and, well, it was a big blow.

The two-run dinger was Goodrum’s third of the season and second in as many days. Here’s hoping he stays hot as the Tigers continue to piece together a lineup through all their injuries.
