Tigers prospect Beau Burrows leads SeaWolves to victory

Scores, news, and notes from around the Detroit Tigers’ farm system for Wednesday, May 17, 2018.

Toledo Mud Hens 3, Charlotte Knights 2 (box)

It was a day of deuces for Jim Adduci. The big outfielder had two RBI on two hits, both doubles, on Wednesday to power the Hens’ offense. As Ryan Carpenter threw for the Tigers, the Mud Hens put together a bullpen day and did just fine. Johnny Barbato and Caleb Thielbar combined for six scoreless innings. They turned it over to Victor Alcantara, who allowed both Knights’ runs, pitching into the ninth. Kevin Comer came on to bail out Alcantara in the ninth to close it out.

Adduci: 2-4, 2 2B, R, 2 RBI
Krizan: 2-4, RBI
Barbato: 3.0 IP, 3 SO

Coming up next: The Mud Hens are rolling at 25-12. They will look to take the series from the Knights on Thursday morning at 10:35 a.m. ET.

Erie SeaWolves 10, Binghamton Rumble Ponies 3 (box)

Dominic Ficociello had three doubles in this one as the offense erupted for 13 hits and spanked the Ponies on Wednesday. Blaise Salter had three RBI and launched a solo shot in the ninth to cap off a stellar day at the plate for the SeaWolves. Meanwhile, the Ponies were having no fun against SeaWolves ace Beau Burrows. The right-hander tossed six innings, allowing a solo shot and little else. Gerson Moreno had a rough inning of relief, but Zac Houston shut things down late.
