After a relentless goose motivated the Detroit Tigers to victory on Wednesday evening, the club decided to honor their feathered friend on Thursday. Not only did the team jump out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, they are now sporting a wooden goose in the dugout.

The goose, which flew into the scoreboard before finding his way out of the stadium, has become a rallying cry for the Tigers and their fans. Its resilience embodies the spirit of Detroit, and that blue collar attitude has permeated into the Tigers dugout.

The Tigers also invited Dr. Catherine Roach, a vet who served as the goose’s cutman on Wednesday, to throw out the first pitch on Thursday.
