I get it. No one ever wants to change baseball. It is fine just the way it is and this 50% DH 50% pitchers hit thing is what we all love to argue about depending on where you live or the team you follow. However, this unbalanced schedule is simply unbearable and I really can’t stand it anymore. I have been a season ticket holder since 2000 and when I go to split the tix up with my 3 other partners, there’s very few "must see" teams in the mix. We got NYY, Boston, Houston, LAA as the only "must see" teams the rest in our division were okay with Cleveland leading the way but we had so many KC, Minn, CWS and Cleveland tickets we had to split up the tickets via teams so we each didn’t end up with multiple tickets to see the same team.
BRING BACK THE PENNANT RACES!
Here’s what I proposed knowing full well it's not likely because baseball has a history of moving slow and making poor decisions. They have kept TB and the A’s alive even though they are rarely competitive, fans are not rabid, even if they are winning, the park is not full and only the A’s fans show some life in a good season but again they NEVER sell out. Oakland lost their football team which only has 16 games, one per week, TWICE! Let the team go elsewhere.
RELOCATION OF TAMPA BAY AND THE OAKLAND A’S TO EITHER OREGON MONTREAL NEVADA OR MEXICO
ADDITION OF NEVADA, OREGON, MONTREAL, MEXICO TWO NEW TEAMS WILL NEED TO BE CREATED
TWO DIVISIONS AMERICAN LEAGUE AND NATIONAL LEAGUE TOP 8 IN EACH LEAGUE MAKE THE PLAYOFFS
EAST VS WEST & BY ADDING 4 & SUBTRACTING 2 ONLY THE 2 CHICAGO TEAMS NEED TO HEAD WEST
REDUCE GAMES BACK TO 154 ADD A 26TH PLAYER TO THE TEAM MORE PLAYOFF GAMES
Eliminate the Pitchers from hitting all together already. You don’t want your largest investment on the team to be injured running the bases, get hit by a baseball or hurt themselves by swinging (Miguel Cabrera is out for the year from a Biceps tear and he’s a HOF professional hitter!) Tanaka on the Yankees is the latest AL pitcher to suffer an injury both hamstrings and is out for at least 10 days if not more. At the very least, allow teams to put a Pinch Runner for the Pitcher until the 7th inning with no penalty to the team or the player. After 7 innings, the PR has to either replace that player or you put in another player.
Jayson Stark is suggesting 8 divisions split East and West but he wants to Eliminate the American and National League designations and he wants all teams to have their pitchers hit. Well, who wants to see a .200 hitter with zero to 4 homers versus a .265 hitter and 25 homers? I know the argument. More strategy and some say quicker games. Really, with 5 pitching changes? Starting pitchers going only 5 or 6 innings and can’t stick around long enough to get some wins so he ends up with 12-14 wins. Basically it is saying that baseball wants to eliminate the 20 game winner and makes winning the Cy Young less impressive when you have less than 200 innings pitched.
Time to make some big changes and make baseball exciting again. Stop taking advantage of our love of the game with this unbalanced schedule. WAKE UP MLB COMMISSIONER!!
