Hey everyone, I just wanted to bring this up to the BYB community. Reports are now surfacing that the Mariners offered Taijuan Walker and other prospects in the 2016-17 off season for Matt Boyd and JD Martinez. Walker at the time was the Mariners top prospect, and one of the most promising young arms in baseball.
First off, let me admit that I would have been for this trade at the time, but I'm glad the Tigers didn't do it. Walker has never fully lived up to his ace potential, and won't even be pitching until next year at the earliest because of Tommy John surgery. Meanwhile, Boyd has become maybe our best pitcher this season, and could net a solid haul of prospects if he continues to pitch this way. That is, if the Tigers are sellers at the deadline, which isn't a guarantee at the moment. Anyway, While it looked like a good trade at the time, I'm very glad Al Avila did not make this trade. Anyway, I just thought it was an interesting little story that would spark a good baseball discussion. Please comment your thoughts below!
