Athletics 4, Tigers 2: The Tigers lost and we don’t really want to talk about it

New, comments

A quick recap for a game that was over very quickly.

MLB: Oakland Athletics at Detroit Tigers Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Tigers lost their ninth consecutive game on Thursday, this one a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the Oakland Athletics. Starting pitcher Sean Manaea helped the A’s sweep their four-game set at Comerica Park by limiting the Tigers to two runs (both in the first inning) on just five hits in six innings. The Oakland bullpen slammed the door closed after that, allowing just one walk in three innings of work.

We could go through exactly how the game went down, but we’re not going to. For one, it was a day game, and it’s tough to watch a full game and recap it during the work day (#deathtodaygames). It’s also the Tigers’ ninth straight loss, and we don’t really want to dwell on it. The offense was bad. Michael Fulmer wasn’t superhuman. The End.
