Toledo Mud Hens 8, Buffalo Bisons 7 (F/10) (box)
Josh Turley had a rough time on Tuesday, but the offense had a blast. They ultimately pulled this one out in 10 innings. Alex Wilson got four outs in his first rehab assignment, and then Turley came on to give up a six-run second inning to the Bisons. The Hens were undeterred, chipping away at the deficit and finally tying things up in the sixth inning. Mike Gerber had a huge three-hit day with a solo home run and four RBI total. Jim Adduci had a pair of doubles, and drove in Dawel Lugo in the bottom of the tenth inning to walk this one off.
Gerber: 3-5, 2B, HR, R, 4 RBI, SO
Adduci: 3-5, 2 2B, R, RBI
Turley: 4.2 IP, 6 H, 7 ER, 5 BB
Coming up next: Jordan Zimmermann will take the bump for another rehab start on Wednesday evening. The Bisons will send Chris Rowley against him.
Erie SeaWolves 5, Hartford Yard Goats 4 (F/10) (box)
The Goats ruminated on a crushing loss after the SeaWolves matched the Mud Hens by walking this one off in 10 innings. Spencer Turnbull’s command failed him, and he was only able to manage 11 outs while giving up three earned runs. Six walks will do that to you. Matt Hall had some struggles in that regard in relief, but Kurt Spomer and Joe Navilhon were finally able to shut the Goats down for five innings until their offense completed the comeback. Troy Montgomery hit a two-run single in the sixth inning, and Josh Lester came through in the bottom of the 10th by doubling in Will Maddox to win it.
Maddox: 3-5, R, SO
Robson: 2-5, 2 R, SO
Turnbull: 3.2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 6 BB, 3 SO
Coming up next: The SeaWolves and Goats will re-engage on Wednesday night, but no starters are announced as of yet.
Lakeland Flying Tigers: off day
The Flying Tigers were off on Tuesday, and head to Jupiter to take on the Hammerheads on Wednesday afternoon. Alex Faedo will take on Jorge Guzman.
West Michigan Whitecaps 2, Great Lakes Loons 0 (box)
Elvin Rodriguez is on a monster four-start roll. He has allowed two total runs in those outings with 30 strikeouts and six walks in 23 1⁄3 innings. He held the Loons to two hits over five innings on Tuesday, with five strikeouts. Jordan Pearce and Colby Bortles each had three hits on an otherwise quiet night for the Whitecaps offense.
Pearce: 3-4, RBI
Rivera: 0-2, R, 2 BB
Rodriguez (W): 5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, BB, 5 SO
Coming up next: The Whitecaps moved a game over .500 with Tuesday’s victory. They’ll host the Loons again at 7:05 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
