The Eastern League and International League All-Star Games take place on Wednesday. Both the Toledo Mud Hens and Erie SeaWolves will resume action on Thursday. The Mud Hens’ Chad Huffman won the second Triple-A Home Run Derby of his career on Tuesday. He cranked 10 bombs in the championship round to take home the title.
Bradenton Marauders 11, Lakeland Flying Tigers 10 (box)
Franklin Perez tossed a rehab start in place of Matt Manning on Tuesday. It didn’t go great, but he got his work in. Perez worked three innings, allowing two runs, and some hard contact along the way. Unfortunately, Eudis Idrogo got clobbered for eight runs, seven earned, in relief. That erased the lead the Flying Tigers built with a seven-run sixth inning. Derek Hill cracked his fourth homer of the year, a two-run shot, and Jose Azocar followed him later in the sixth with a three-run shot. Isaac Paredes launched a solo shot for his ninth of the season in the seventh inning, but Idrogo and Wladimir Pinto got into more trouble in the bottom half of that inning and the lead slipped away for good.
Paredes: 2-4, 2 R, RBI, HR, BB
Hill: 2-5, R, 2 RBI, HR, 3 SO
Perez: 3.0 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, SO
