FanPost Friday: Which Tigers do you consider untouchable?

Who are the greatest hopes for the future?

With discussions from MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred regarding expansion seeming to gain more momentum every day, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before we see baseball move into new cities, and to quote Hamilton, “It’s not a question of if, Burr, but which one[s]?”

If Manfred’s expansion dreams do come true, it will mean that those new franchises in, say, Portland and Montreal, will need to fill their rosters, and they will come to the current clubs to pluck the best available fruit from their fields and farms.

Twitter user Stephen Josiah recently posited this very question for his followers, and it has stuck with me since, so thanks to Stephen for this fun thought experiment.

It’s possibly very telling that even as I prepared to write this post and tried to determine which player I wanted to select for the header image, it was a tough decision for me to pick a player who was an obvious answer to the question.

Where the Tigers might have this easier than any other club is that their current on-field roster isn’t so overburdened with must-keep talent that the farm suffers by extension. Tigers fans doing this post will actually get to dive deeper into the prospect ranks to protect their future stars, which one imagines is precisely what Al Avila would do if the above scenario actually came into play.

So let’s take a seat in our imaginary GM chairs and take a gander at the new prospect rankings list and at the current 25-man roster and ask ourselves: do we value Casey Mize over Nicholas Castellanos? Is there room to hold them both without losing Alex Faedo? Who do we keep if we can only keep 10?

Head over to the FanPost section and select “New FanPost” on the left, then tell us exactly which 10 Tigers you would hang onto.
