2019 Tigers & Who Gets Traded In The Off-Season?

Today will be VMART’s last home at bats & I am glad he was able to finish the season, have some fun & finally retire. His body can’t handle it anymore and that’s okay. He was a professional, he was deadly in his prime & never really complained much about anything. Good bye VMART!

2019 Tigers:

I don’t see them signing Lirano so what does the starting 5 look like:

1) Fulmer 2) Boyd 3) Norris 4) Zimmerman 5)? Internal Candidates which I do feel they will give a first whack at but just like they did with Fiers and Lirano they might gamble on a 1 year comeback player to fill one of these slots. Assuming they do not go that route, who might get a chance to be a starter?

1) Spencer Turnbull 2) Drew Verhagen 3) Matt Hall 4) Beau Burrows

Extreme Long Shots:

1) Matt Manning 2) Alex Faedo

Our Starting Line up and Position Players:

Okay I know everyone is saying Cabrera should move to DH & I concur but I think Cabby will play 1b with more frequent day offs at DH but he doesn’t become full time DH until 2020 or 2021.

1b) Cabrera with Hicks as his back up

2b) Lugo or Ronnie Rodriguez both have questionable gloves but Ronnie seems to have more power & is a better hitter the loser of this competition goes back to AAA

SS) BIG QUESTION MARK:

I am one of those guys who thinks that signing Iggy to a 2 year deal would be beneficial for both sides because the other guys just are not ready. Do you want to see Goodrum there as a full time SS? He was drafted as SS and mostly played there his career he’s not good at 2b at all.

3b) Jemeir Candalario

C) This is going to be tough because McCann might be traded, could be non-tendered, could be signed before arbitration it is really a toss up. If you say they only want to spend money on Iglesias or McCann I say you sign Iggy. Greiner looks like he can come in and handle the staff and he makes more contact on a regular basis than McCann does so if they make that decision to trade or non tender him, Greiner & Hicks can handle it and they will have Jake Rogers most likely promoted to AAA even though his bat is not ready his glove and arm is MLB ready. I think he’s the starter in 2020.

LF) Christian Stewart

CF) Jacoby Jones

RF) Castellanos

Back up OF: Mahtook Goodrum

Wild Card OF Back ups: Mike Gerber , Jacob Robson, Jim Adducci

Who might get traded in the off-season?

You can rest assured Michael Fulmer will NOT be traded! He was already coming off one injury now a second so forget any notion that the Tigers can trade him. He’s now at an all time low value & the Tigers need him to be healthy for them at least one full year so I don’t even think the July trading deadline is an option unless he’s 13-3 with an era under 2.50 so short of that awesome display of domination, he’s a Tiger for all of 2019.

1) Castellanos is eligible for Arbitration and it will be a HUGE increase with the numbers he’s putting up so its a good thing the VMART, Fiers, Liriano contracts are going to be gone because if they sign Iggy & Castellanos doesn’t get traded, those two raises will equal VMART’s 18 million easily. Castellanos could get a raise to 15 million and Iggy should get 4 to 6 million. The Tigers have some others who are probably due for raises but I am not sure anyone else is arbitration eligible but please respond if you know someone is. I do know that Tigers owe 8 million to Houston (JV) and 6 million to Texas (Fielder).

2) Shawn Greene

3) Alex Wilson

4) James McCann

5) Cabrera-Okay I am listing him because its not like they wouldn’t jump at the chance & baseball is crazy enough that you never know what could happen if they gave a team 100 million to take him. Odds are less than 1%!
