Now I'm bored: Moves I think the Tigers should make

I agree with the recent FanPost written by Dan Hogan 95. Not a lot has happened for the Tigers since the Winter Meetings. I have some ideas on some moves that I would love to see the Tigers make and would love to start an open discussion on it. Let me know your input, what you agree with, and what you disagree with.

Trade Castellanos and Shane Greene to the Indians for George Valera, Tyler Freeman, Raynel Delgado, Adam Scott and James Karinchak: Again, I have to agree with Dan Hogan on this one. Not trading within the division is a thing of the past. Cleveland's time is now and their two biggest needs are the outfield and bullpen. I like Castellanos, but don't love him. I want a better defensive player out there and he isn't going to be seeing the DH role any time soon with our obligation to Miggy. I don't think he is worth an extension. Shane Greene still has value and could be used as a closer with Brad Hand. He still has good stuff. Tigers take on half of both contracts.

George Valera is going to be a good one folks. Out of anyone in the Indians farm system currently I believe he is going to be the one who becomes an all-star as a position player. Freeman is an OBP machine with good hit tools. He is going to be a 2nd baseman most likely in the future. Raynel Delgado is someone that I really wanted the Tigers to take in the draft. He has a lot of room to grow and his plus tools are at the plate and he is a good from both sides as a switch hitter. He also has a good chance to stay a SS.

Adam Scott is tall LHP that is worth taking a shot on and Adam Karinchak is a RHP who had 81 strikeouts in in 48 innings over 3 levels last year. Also had a 1.29 ERA and could be a nice addition to the bullpen down the road.

Blaine Hardy to the A's for Daulton Jefferies, Dalton Sawyer, and $300k of International Signing Money:

The Da(u)lton brothers haha. Jefferies has been plagued by injuries, but when healthy is a very good pitcher that can touch 95 and has good secondary stuff. Sawyer is a matchup lefty who is really good against lefties. Blaine Hardy gives the A's a versatile arm that can start and be a long relief option which would give them very good value and something they could use. We need to take advantage of Hardy's season he had last year. This may be a lot for Hardy, but I threw the $300k of international signing money because of the years of control Hardy has.

Matthew Boyd to the Astros for Seth Beer, Peter Solomon, Heitor Tokar, and $300k of International Signing Money:

I like Boyd and he has quite a few years of control. Unfortunately that control is going to be a few years too late. He is a solid starter in his prime. Houston needs another starter and Boyd would fill this role for them and I think would be a great addition. Beer, gives the Tigers a 1B of the future. He can straight mash and would be a huge fan favorite on name alone. Solomon has a good arm and could have a future as a starter, or an important part of the bullpen. Heitor Tokar is lightning in the bottle. He was an international signing by Houston, but he is 17 and 6’7" 250lbs. Throws in the high 80’s-low 90’s. Another $300k of International Signing Money because of years of control.

Sign Manny Machado to a 9 year $279 million contract:

Now you may be asking why am I trading everyone and then signing Machado. I feel we are at least 2 years away from competing for the playoffs, most likely 3. That leaves 6-7 years of the Tigers having a One of the games best players, with a young talented core of players. We will sign other players like a big time pitcher and a catcher in 2020 and 2021.

I have been against signing Machado, but I'm going to put my tail between my legs and admit I'm wrong on that thought. I think the Johnny Hustle comment has been blown out proportion over time. He is a franchise type talent that is actually fairly affordable if the reports of his current offers are accurate. Let him be a shortstop for 5-6 years, he is pretty good at that spot, although I think he pulls an A Rod and goes to 3B eventually.

CHRIS ILLITCH SIGN MACHADO...and put asses in the seats and give Detroit some excitement.

Last One, Do not trade Fulmer at the deadline...if you sign Machado:

I have been on the trade Michael Fulmer bandwagon since we decided to go into a rebuild. His value is at an all-time low. Trading him right now wouldn't make sense. But, what if he comes back and shows glimpses of the Rookie the Year winner and all-star he was? Do we trade him at the deadline? I believe if we sign Machado, which obviously isn't likely we should not trade Fulmer. I think he is a #2 or #3 starter when he comes back healthy and he has a lot of control so let's keep him. If we don't bring in Machado, that tells me that the Tigers are going to be 3-4 years away from being serious contenders and we should trade him for a haul at the deadline to a contender. If we sign Machado that shows me the Tigers are committed to winning sooner than expected as of right now. We should keep him if that is the case.

Thanks Everyone and GO TIGERS!!!
