Watch Miguel Cabrera execute a perfect hidden ball trick

This is something you truly don’t see every day

MLB: Spring Training-New York Yankees at Detroit Tigers Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Quite often, spring training baseball games can become slightly rote, with the managers using it as an opportunity to see how the veteran players will do at their positions and give the young up-and-comers a chance to play with the big boys. The games can occasionally lag, and we are often reminded that they “don’t matter.”

Be that as it may, hopefully the young players in the Tigers dugout were watching on Monday afternoon as first baseman Miguel Cabrera pulled off one of the oldest, sneakiest, baseball tricks in the book. In the bottom of the third inning, he tagged out Twins’ runner Ehire Adrianza... with ye olde hidden ball trick.

Yes, an honest to God hidden ball trick.

Watch it happen with absolutely perfect timing.

Adrianza had no idea what had hit him. And Tigers fans got to see something unique and a lot of fun.

Spring training is so much fun.
