catching the orioles

I posted this below but decided it might deserve it's own post.
Given all the injuries that we have had, the sophomore slumps by Goodrum and Candelario and Castellanos and Cabrera having below avg seasons, it is time for us to realize that the best possible outcome for this season is for us to catch Baltimore for the 1-1 pick again. Losing 98 games again in 2018 only got us the #5 pick for this years draft instead of the 1-1 we got for 98 losses in 2017. We need to do better(worse) than that this year. Thanks to the awful(good) June we have now moved from the #6 pick to the #2 pick. We need to continue this progress. We are now 7 games behind (ahead) in the lose column, in our quest to catch Baltimore.

For you doubters of the wisdom of this, remember the Houston Astros. They had seasons of 106, 107,111 and 92 loses while creating their analytics and player development organizations. This resulted in their world series championship. We need to step things up if we want to match their success. We find ourselves 8 and 9 games behind them since we only lost 98 and 98 games compared to their 106 and 107 totals in the first two years of the rebuild. We got a one year jump on them in starting our analytics department since we began ours in 2015. so maybe we can dispense with the 92 lose season. I am not sure we are on a pace with them in Technology. We had no high speed cameras like Houston had until recenty,
( which they use to make their pitchers more effective). Verlander’s big improvement since being traded to them is one example of the effectiveness of these cameras. It wasn’t until 2017 we began upgrading tech. Go Tigers, for this rebuild to end as soon as possible we need to catch the Orioles.

I suggest you read MVP if you are interested in how Houston achieved the success they are now enjoying. The Tigers along with many other teams are trying to copy their road map to success.
