FanPost Friday: What makes you a Detroit Tigers fan?

Was it passed down from family or just good luck?

We’ll be the first to admit that 2019 is a tough year to be a Tigers fan.

The team started the year well enough, winning several series in a row and giving us a ton of false hope as Boyd, Turnbull, and even Zimmermann looked dominant right out of the gate. Then, the wheels came off, and the Tigers started a steady slide into one of the worst seasons in franchise history. It hasn’t been a lot of fun.

But you guys have stuck it out. You continue to look for Tigers news, chat about their future, and hang on for anything to suggest there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And the light IS coming, eventually.

It’s not easy being a Tigers fan, but that makes it all the more interesting to find out why makes you one.

It inspires this week’s FanPost prompt, though: how did YOU become a Tigers fan? Was it the result of a family member growing up with them? Perhaps the 1984 victory season, or the team’s incredible run to the World Series in 2006? Maybe it’s just a proximity thing.

We want to know how you became a Tigers fan!

Head over to the FanPost section, select New FanPost on the left, and tell us all about how you joined the Tigers family.

Shout out to user jdub5609 for “My Dream Deadline” responding to last week’s trade deadline prompt. While none of the moves came to pass, it was fun to read the ideas.
