We might be doing several more of these down the stretch in 2019. Just one week after celebrating the first hit of Jake Rogers’ career, Detroit Tigers fans got to do the same for new pickup Travis Demeritte, who hit a triple in his MLB debut on Friday evening. Demeritte, who had already walked against Texas Rangers starter Lance Lynn earlier in the game, hit a ground ball past third baseman Isiah Kiner-Falefa into the left field corner. Demeritte didn’t just cruise into second for a double, however, instead choosing to push ahead for a sliding triple.

Demeritte has certainly delivered on his self-assessment as an exciting player so far, adding a stolen base to his tally on Friday evening.
