Travis Demeritte isn’t exactly the ideal right fielder of the future for the Detroit Tigers — that guy just hit an inside-the-park home run down in the minors last night — but he has looked the part of a major leaguer that will help contribute to the next Tigers contender. He contributed to Detroit’s 10-8 win on Thursday with a solo home run in the seventh inning, the first of his major league career.

Given that Demeritte has only played in eight games, his stats are varying wildly right now. Prior to Thursday’s game, he was batting a paltry .200/.300/.360 with a 72 wRC+. Now, after this homer and three walks (should have been four), Demeritte has a 122 wRC+ and the best OPS on the team. Fun with small sample sizes!
