It was eight years ago this May that Justin Verlander joined storied company in the confines of Rogers Stadium in Toronto, throwing his second career no-hitter.
On September first, he became on of only six pitchers to throw a third no-hitter, and the first to do so twice at the same away stadium
In a 120-pitch gem, Verlander threw the second no-hitter of the Astros season — the first a four-pitcher combined series, featuring to former Blue Jays pitchers, on August 3. Verlander struck out 14 Jays batters over the course of the game, but aside from his blistering fastball, it was third baseman Abraham Toro who made all the difference in Verlander’s history-making win. Toro hit the two-run homer that put the Astros on the scoreboard at the top of the ninth, and was then the player covering third to collect the liner from Bo Bichette and throw the final out to first base.
