March 2020: Give Me One Aspect Of Baseball That Is Going To Change Going Forward.

Give me one thing or aspect about the game of baseball that is going to change because of the Corona Virus. It can be an aspect of major proportions (Attendance, Number of Games, Getting In An Ump's Face) or an item of mild curiosity (fist bumps, sneeze-slides or sign-stealing). I will begin:

I believe that Baseball and every sport in general, are going to suffer a permanent decline in attendance and interest.

Something on the order of ten percent as a minimum.

Regarding baseball--in the light of current events, who will want to sit thru a chilly April game during virus season? Anybody want a 10 game plan with 4 games before May 1st? Or you could watch the game on your home's OLED television in climate-controlled comfort with informational announcing and your own clean bathrooms?

Actual attendance said to account for one-third of an MLB team's annual revenue. I believe that attendance will take a serious and permanent hit.

More of our entertainment dollars will flow towards in-home entertainment such as the streaming services.

Each day that baseball is suspended, it will fade a little more in the American Psyche. Baseball is a game started in Spring, played in Summer and decided in Fall. We sit at the electronic hot stove in winter and watch, listen and marvel at the changes that are coming next spring. This year we have been sobered by the disquieting events of this spring. Baseball is on the back burner. And that burner has been shut off because we have more important things to focus on. And when we get a minute and look back at baseball, it suddenly won't seem as important.

I predict that Baseball will charge out of the starting gate here in 2020 only to look around and find out our attention and our entertainment dollars have been diverted to other purposes. If I've left out any metaphors or similes, feel free to use them.
