Tigers announce their spring training arrival schedule

Whether or not this actually comes to pass remains to be seen.

There are a lot of adages out there about the power of positive thinking and manifestation. “Be the change you want to see in the world!” or “If you dream it you can be it!” or the classic “Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.”

It seems the Detroit Tigers and other teams are trying a new version of this in, “If we schedule it, it will happen.”

On Thursday, the Tigers announced their spring training arrival schedule, obviously in the hopes that in doing so, they will actually start spring training on time. While that remains to be seen — the Cactus League in Arizona is already considering a delay because of high COVID cases in the area — the Grapefruit League appears primed to get to work next month.

Should everything happen according to plan, here are the dates we can start expecting to see the Tigers arrive in Lakeland, FL for training. Report dates are currently not finalized, but the first scheduled workouts are.

  • February 17: Pitchers and catchers first workout
  • February 22: First full squad workout

We will obviously keep an eye on these dates and update everything accordingly should there be any changes.
