Detroit Tigers free agent profile: Trey Mancini

The Detroit Tigers will be busy this off-season, figuring out what players will fit best to help change the landscape moving forward. But, for the Tigers, this will require some thought, figuring out which players will best suit the team. One of the things that Scott Harris said he wants to do during his press conference at the General Manager Meetings in early November is find a right-handed hitting outfielder in free agency. There's a plethora of them out there; the Detroit Tigers just have to find the right one. The Tigers should consider Trey Mancini to help batten down the hatches in the outfield. Plus, with his positional versatility, it allows them to gain depth in the infield as well. While Mancini's glove is better served at first base, it's not exactly like Austin Meadows is totally known for his defense. It's a bit of a sacrifice to put Mancini out there, but it would allow them to add another right-handed bat. The 30-year-old free agent also could log time at first base as needed. With a potential addition to Spencer Torkelson's positional versatility being in the cards, so it seems an extra body for first base may not be horrible.
