Riley Greene: The Most Anticipated Tiger Rookie Hitter Since Who? (whom?)

Riley Greene is supposed to make his highly-anticipated debut on Saturday, June 18th. While I think Spencer Torkelson is a top-notch player who is going to develop eventually, in my mind Riley Greene had already passed Tork in ability. As Dan Dickerson has explained, a Riley Greene routine fly ball just seems to carry farther--sometimes over the fence. Casual power--the Cecil Fielder kind. And of course the other tools.

Cameron Maybin (2007 debut) was the last Tiger debut that I really waited for. He had been compared to a young Ken Griffey Jr and was supposed to be a toolsy player. He didn't last very long in Detroit that first time, but I remember he signed a decent 5 year contract with the Padres. In retrospect, he might not have warranted a first round selection, but he had a long and successful career and was highly valued on and off the field.

Has any other rookie Tiger arrived with more fanfare? Who was the last player you really wanted to see? Steve Kemp? Jacob Turner? Andrew Miller?
