I think the Tigers should try to work out a trade with the Cardinals for Cesar Prieto. He is a LHB infielder now in the Cardinals system, they traded for him at end of year from the Cardinals. He primarily plays 2B and 3B, but can play SS. I think he could take ABs from Baez when facing RHP who have good breaking ball. He also could be part of platoon at 3B if Baez able to improve against RHP. His AVG is .299 since leaving Cuba with an OPS of .768, and was .813 in AA and AAA last year. The one thing I wish he would improve is his walk rate, he has 50 walks in just under 1000 ABs.
The Cardinals have higher ranked SS prospects and a young SS on the ML club. I keep thinking Spencer Turnbull would be tempting for the Cardinals, but would need to add more than this I guess for Prieto. How about McKinstry and Turnbull for Prieto?
What do you think? I think picking up Prieto would improve the Tigers, not a big move, but think can help?
